Creating and Maintaining Baselines
Before a program update for the first time, you create a baseline. The simplest baseline is a complete or "instant" copy of the original schedule. Each baseline is assigned a type that classifies its purpose, for example, the initial basic planning, if the baseline of the project or plan based central project status line. You can compare up to three baselines simultaneously. For example, you can create a baseline of the original project plan and then create two more baselines in the various phases of the project.
